Pillar’s 2019 fundraising breakfast June 27 at the Louisville Water Tower raised awareness for our mission and critically needed funding for the supports and services our organization provides to people with disabilities.

With the theme “Opportunity, Choice, and Connection,” the hourlong program included a welcome by Benton Keith, Pillar’s board chair, and remarks from Pillar’s executive director, Leah Campbell. The morning’s three inspiring stories speakers included Charlie Westerfield, talking about his son Mike; and Mindy Parrish, who shared the bittersweet journey of her daughter, Stephanie.

Peter Kerpestein, a young man who attends Pillar’s Community Engagement Center at Crestwood Station and plays on Pillar’s Special Olympics softball and basketball teams, gave an enlightening and entertaining interview from the stage. He shared his love of trains and talked about his desire to find a job through Pillar’s supported employment program.
