Paul Settles in at Pillar
Paul moved into an Apple Patch Residence and likes the new home he has found there. The Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) that work in Paul’s home support him, so that he can do the activities he enjoys. He spends his time going to the mall or for a walk down by the river and loves to laugh with his friends. A highlight of his summer was going to Poorcastle with a friend and DSP to watch his nephew perform.
Our residential homes are staffed 24/7 with considerate individuals, who are trained to help people live their most independent lives. Paul is able to care for himself with assistance and has the opportunity to be a part of the community, doing activities he enjoys. Pillar staff act as a support system: available when needed but in the background when not.
Paul is now more talkative and excited about his life than before. "The lovely little things that staff members do on a daily basis to help Paul be happy, healthy, and feel at home are wonderful," said Paul's sister, Julia. When she tells Paul that he lives in "the happiest place on Earth", he eagerly responds with "Yes, I do!”
